ACTSERV is an actuarial consulting firm with over two decades of business visibility. Our staff have acquired extensive knowledge, experience and expertise in executing advisory services in employee benefits, life insurance, banking, health and general insurance, and investments in Africa.

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic individual to join our Actuarial business unit as an Actuarial Manager.

The role holder will provide actuarial advisory services to an array of actuarial clients. They will be responsible for coordinating and effectively managing assigned actuarial work streams, projects and teams to achieve business results and meet revenue targets.

Qualifications:

  • Lead and provide client services in actuarial consulting projects;
  • Coordinate work streams and projects in actuarial valuation modeling, audit support, risk management, reporting, including IFRS 17 implementation;
  • Provide expert input into the product implementation process, (product development, pricing strategies and profit testing), while supporting competitor analysis and market intelligence;
  • Contribute to the development of service offerings for our clients, while developing our teams’ capabilities to identify upcoming areas of demand, driven by regulatory and market trends;
  • Support business development activities, including opportunity identification, qualification, and proposal development or presentation;
  • Support thought leadership initiatives on issues pertinent to our key clients, that contribute to the firm’s growth and eminence;
  • Review and evaluate existing strategy, policies and procedures for relevance and applicability;
  • Client engagement and management, while ensuring teams sustain customer/client service delivery;
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the actuarial unit, including team management, active performance management and providing guidance to other managers;
  • Contribute to team development through coaching, up-skilling and on-the-job training and assistance with hiring;
  • Present actuarial reports to executives from time to time;
  • Assistance in undertaking any other relevant tasks which may be assigned from time to time.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Actuarial Science.
  • Strong actuarial programming skills, e.g., R, Python.
  • Fellowship Qualification (IFOA, SOA or other recognized actuarial body).
  • Exposure and experience in reporting, including IFRS 17 implementations.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake business travel regionally as required.
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience in a similar role- actuarial consulting experience, an added advantage.
  • Highly motivated and adaptable individual, with proven leadership skills and ability to work on own initiative within a dynamic work environment.
